Has every current mlb team played every other yet?
R.J. asked: Has every current MLB team played every other yet? General knowledge.
Rick answered: R.J, thank you for your question.
The first interleague game took place in June 1997. There were 4 interleague games on the schedule that night.
From 1997-2001, teams from the AL West played teams from the NL West, teams from the Central Divisions played each other, as did the East Divisions.
In 2002, MLB started alternating which divisions played which divisions.
In 2007, two teams played 6 games with more than one interleague opponent. This happened again this year, 2012.
As of 2012, every MLB team has had interleague series with each team in the opposing league. Some have not hosted every team at their home park, as yet.
Yours in baseball,
Rick
