What is a "clean" single?

Clean Single
Pat asked: What is a clean single? Hear announcers saying this a lot lately.
Rick answered: Pat, thank you for your question.
The term "clean single" means a ball hit by the batter, that has no chance of being caught for an out by a defender, and that will result in the batter-runner reaching first base safely.
Yours in baseball,
Rick
